THE LIBERATION ANTHEM: WHEN A FIGHTING SONG BECOMES THE LEGACY OF A VICTORIOUS PEOPLE.

Dear readers, friends of Burundi and freedom,

There are songs born in the shadow of struggle, carried by the ardent breath of those who believe in a better future. The CNDD-FDD anthem, composed by Félicien Minani Nsengiyumva (FEMIDEJABAT), was one of them. Created in the midst of the years of struggle for the liberation of his people, it was much more than a melody: it was a cry of hope, a collective prayer, a weapon of unity brandished against oppression.

Today, this anthem returns to us—no longer as a call to arms, but as a sonorous monument to victory. And also a call to unity for national reconstruction.  For the Burundian people, for whom the CNDD-FDD fought and sang so hard, have been liberated. The movement they supported with their voices and courage has triumphed. And this publication, in some twenty languages, is much more than a book: it is the solemn consecration of a dream come true.

Imagine the power of this gesture:

The former refugee, the tireless defender of human rights, whose autobiography touched Norway with its depth and lack of rancor, today lays the final stone in the edifice of collective memory.

Publishing this anthem means:

– Engraving in the marble of languages the song that accompanied the steps of freedom fighters.

– Paying tribute to the anonymous martyrs whose sacrifice made this rebirth possible.

– Celebrate the resilience of a people who carried this anthem in their hearts like a talisman of hope, even in the darkest hours.

– Offer the world a universal tale of struggle, perseverance, and ultimate triumph.

For FEMIDEJABAT, this book is a living testament.

If her first work recounted the man’s personal journey—from exile to reconstruction—this second book belongs to the entire people. It immortalizes the collective soul that overcame adversity. Each translation is a ray of this victory radiating out toward humanity, reminding us that songs of freedom, born in pain, deserve to resonate in peace.
